Using Google’s cache can save a lot of time. Using it can avoid going back into backups to get data out (which incurs a hourly charge), or re-writing content. Before coming to Production take a look at Google’s cache of the website. Most of the time when people call or come to me saying they accidentally deleted a page I look in Google cache and get it.

To use Google’s cache:

  1. Go to http://www.google.com
  2. In the search field type ‘cache:http://www.yourdomain.name/lostpage.html’
  3. If the page is in Google’s cache you will see the latest cached copy of the page.

This will work for any live site on the internet. Google keeps a copy of every page that it sees.
